The Miracle in the Coffin: Thai Woman Wakes Up Inside Coffin Minutes Before Cremation
A shocking incident took place in Thailand when a 65-year-old woman, believed to be dead, woke up inside her coffin just moments before her cremation.
The event happened at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, a Buddhist temple in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok.
She Was Thought to Be Dead
The woman had been bedridden for two years due to poor health. Two days before the incident, she had become unresponsive and seemed to stop breathing. Her brother believed she had passed away.
He then drove her body nearly 500 kilometers (300 miles) from Phitsanulok to the temple for her final rites.
Before reaching the temple, he stopped at a hospital in Bangkok to fulfill her wish to donate her organs, but the hospital refused because he didn’t have an official death certificate.
A Knock From Inside the Coffin
When he reached the temple, staff there also could not accept the body for cremation without the official document.
While the temple’s general affairs manager, Pairat Soodthoop, was explaining how to get the certificate, he heard a soft knocking sound from the coffin.
He asked others to open it, and to everyone’s shock, the woman was moving, knocking, and slowly opening her eyes. Pairat said she had probably been knocking for a while before they noticed.
The temple captured the moment on video, later shared on Facebook, showing the woman moving her arms and head inside the white coffin placed on a pickup truck.
Taken to Hospital for Treatment
Rescuers were immediately called, and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The temple’s abbot also promised to pay for her medical expenses.
This incident shows how important official procedures—like having a death certificate—can be. In this case, the paperwork delay likely saved the woman’s life.
